A Message from Dr. Narvaez to All Parents & Staff

DoDEA Sponsors, Parents, Guardians, and Staff,

Many of you are aware of the recent release of Executive Order 14222, "Implementing the President's 'Department of Government Efficiency' Cost Efficiency Initiative" to ensure government spending is transparent and accountable to the American taxpayer. One element of this Executive Order is a review of all government-funded travel, during which travel within the Department of Defense is reduced to mission essential in support of military operations or Permanent Changes of Station (PCS).

To support DoDEA students, we have received limited exemptions for student and staff travel to continue mission-related extra-curricular activities and athletics. We are working through the review process now to identify those events.

As some events scheduled over the next few days were paused, staff members across DoDEA headquarters and the three regions are coordinating to work through logistics and scheduling as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your partnership during this period as we work to support military-connected students while ensuring that all travel is within the guidance of the Executive Order and the Secretary of Defense.

Students continue to remain at the heart of everything we do in DoDEA.
