Naples students explore natural resources through Savvas Science Quest

Mar 25 2026 — In a recent science unit at Naples Middle High School, the Savvas Science Quest played a central role in helping students develop a deeper understanding of natural resources. Through a series of inquiry-driven lessons, Ms. Zabinski, a seventh grade science teacher, and Mr. Macone, an Advanced Academic Programs and Services (AAPS) teacher, guided students as they explored essential questions, analyzed scientific evidence and drew informed conclusions about how humans use—and are impacted by—Earth’s natural resources. The collaborative, hands-on structure of the Science Quest supported both rigorous critical thinking and meaningful student engagement.
Ms. McPheeters works closely with her students, guiding them through the engineering design process as they build and code their LEGO submarines.

Second grade students bring engineering design process to life

Apr 10 2025 — Ms. McPheeters and her 2nd-grade class teamed up with AAPS (Advanced Academics and Placement Services) Specialist Mr. Macone and Educational Technologist Mr. Sexton to introduce young students to the wonders of engineering and coding. This collaboration aimed to enrich the students' learning experience by integrating the Engineering Design Process (EDP) into their curriculum through hands-on activities with LEGO Essentials robots.
