Grade-Level Highlights: A Peak into Our Week

PreK students will explore different flower types and see examples of various flower gardens. We will also explore what vegetables grow in gardens and whether they grow where we can see them or underground. We will introduce words like root, weeds, and herbs.

Kindergarteners are learning about the weather in language arts and science. We will listen to and explore nonfiction stories. This week, the letter focus is Qu and Y. Both are tricky sounds. Sight words include the blend st: best, must, fast, just, stop. We will continue to work on informative writing. Please read with your child daily and include time for them to read to you AND you to read to them.

In math, we will explore number patterns on a 100 chart. Kinders should be able to count by 1s and 10s to 100. We will also start reviewing/reteaching addition and subtraction and continue for the remainder of the school year.

Please ensure you have returned your child’s study trip permission form and 11 euros. We will go to Lo Zoo di Napoli on Wednesday, May 7.

Next week in ELA, we will finish Unit 7, Week 3, and then take the Unit 7 assessment. In math, we will begin Unit 12, which is all about measurement and data. In social studies, we will start Unit 4: History. We will learn about schools in the past and how they are different from schools now.
If you have any questions, please get in touch with your child's teacher. Have a wonderful weekend! ☺️

This week in 3rd Grade, we have been busy preparing for our end-of-year summative assessments next week! In math Unit 12, students have learned how to interpret and solve problems using picture and bar graphs, measure liquid, mass, and length, and solve time interval word problems. We have also practiced some summative tests for ELA and Math this week, learning how to apply what we have learned independently and how to log on and follow directions successfully. Students have been practicing test questions collaboratively with their peers and/or teachers, which has helped them revise older concepts and learn how to apply good strategies independently. Our students have been working hard this week and are ready to show what they know next week! Go 3rd Grade!

    Field Trips

Our 3rd Grade field trip will be on Thursday, May 1. Students must turn in permission slips and exact cash by Monday, April 28.
