Administration

Dear Parents,

As we wrap up another exciting week at our school, I am thrilled to share some highlights and important updates with you.

Firstly, I want to congratulate all the students who participated in the DoDEA Europe FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Virtual Competition, coached by Mr. Sexton. Your creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills were awe-inspiring!

Additionally, our 4th and 6th grade students showcased their artistic talents in lunchtime art shows organized by Ms. White. The displays were a testament to our young artists' hard work and dedication.

As we conclude the 3rd quarter, I am proud of our students' achievements and progress. Congratulations to everyone on a successful end to the quarter!

We will be on Spring break next week. I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable time with your families. Classes will resume on Monday, April 7.

We are also excited to kick off our Month of the Military Child celebration with Spirit Week and student assemblies. This is a wonderful opportunity to honor and support our military families.

Please remember that educational environment letters are due to Mrs. Rascoe by April 11. Your input is invaluable in helping us create our students' best possible learning environment.

We hope you have a wonderful Spring break. We look forward to seeing everyone back refreshed and ready for the final stretch of the school year.

Warm regards,

Mr. Rivera and Mrs. Rascoe

Grade-Level Highlights: A Peak into Our Week

PreK students will continue to explore how different animals have different habitats. We will discuss how much space some animals need and compare how fish need gallons of water and other animals need inches or feet of length in a cage. We will also learn what they eat and introduce the words carnivore, herbivore, and omnivore.

After spring break, Kinder will continue learning about holidays and celebrations in Unit 7. The letter focus will be L, and our sight words are here and there. We are starting to learn about informative writing. Ask your child if they can tell you the difference between a fact and an opinion.

We will continue composing 2D shapes in math and use our knowledge to compose 3D shapes. Students should be able to describe shapes with defining attributes such as number of sides, vertices, 2D, 3D, etc.

In science, we will start a unit on weather.

Have a great spring break and we will see you on Monday, April 7.

This week, in 3rd grade, we started Unit 11 work learning about perimeter. Students have learned how to find the perimeter of figures and 2D shapes; some even had missing dimensions.

In ELA, we finished our Unit 6 Week 1, which focused on irregular plurals and verbs, identifying the problems and solutions in the story, and how identifying the central lesson or moral of the story.

In Science, have continued to investigate forces and motion, and in Social Studies we have been learning more about buying and selling goods.

Over Spring Break, please continue to:

    • Read out loud to someone every day (20mins)
    • Practice your multiplication facts! (10mins)

The 3rd Grade Team wishes you all a wonderful Spring Break. We look forward to seeing you on April 7th!

We wish all our students and families a joyful and relaxing Spring Break! Take this time to rest, recharge, and enjoy special moments together. The 3rd quarter is complete, and we’re so proud of all our students' hard work! 🌟📚

For ELA, we are working through Unit 7. After spring break, there will be a spelling test on Unit 7 Week 2 words.

In Math, we continue to work through Unit 11, focusing on dividing fractions.

For Health, students learn about nutrition and the importance of making good food choices.

For Science, we are delving into the Earth and Sun unit, focusing on planetary systems. Each class will visit our Star Lab over the next couple of weeks.

For Social Studies, we are starting to work through lessons 8 and 9, focusing on Latin America.

Please see the "NES News" tab on the 5th grade website for more information about what's happening in 5th grade.

In science, we are studying genetic change and traits and finishing up the novel Dragonwings in ELA.  We are moving on to negative numbers in math and the Byzantine Empire in social studies.
